You've just spent too much time listening to frigate-pilots who have a hard-on for utterly nerfing drones when all drones require are: 1) Infinate range bug fixed. 2) Locking time adjustment. 3) Some sort of tracking so that hits aren't all 100% damage. Drone sizes should also be adjusted so that frigates can only use light drones, cruisers can only use light/medium drones, and battleships can use any drones.
